A paint roller is used for applying paint or finishes to large, flat surfaces in a rapid and efficient manner. The concept behind roller brushes is to cover more surface area in a shorter amount of time.

A roller attaches to the frame or handle of the brush. One of the main advantages of using a roller is transferring liquid product to a surface area more efficiently in a rolling manner, instead of a stroking manner.
