The unique Speed Sweep® Floor Broom System's origin dates back to 1897, when floors were made of sawdust. To prevent the saw dust from kicking up when a floor was swept, an organic solvent was place into a trough cut out in the top of the broom head. The solvent seeped out during the pushing motion which congealed the saw dust and prevented it from going airborne. As floor surfaces changed, the need for this mechanism became unnecessary. The steel backed head replaced the cut out trough.
123 years later, Gordon Brush® still manufactures the thin profile Speed Sweep® Floor Broom System line of push floor brooms. The line consists of 17 products, offering a choice of three sizes, 18", 24", 36"; three different fill materials, polypropylene, polystyrene, Tampico/horsehair; three different trim lengths, 3", 3-1/4", 4"; two different trim styles, flagged, non-flagged, and four different usage grades, fine duty, average duty, and two heavy duty (very stiff and extra stiff).
What makes the Speed Sweep® Floor Broom System unique is its thin profile, more maneuverable, lightweight steel backed head and adjustable external socket mechanism. The socket/handle can be reversed to keep fills in shape for longest wear. The socket requires a 3/8" stud handle which is sold separately. The unique Speed Sweep® Floor Broom System is a truly ergonomic floor brush adjustable to suit the user's height.
